River Fishing

River Spey from below Spey Dam down to Kingussie

Brown trout, pike, occasional salmon and sea trout.

Fly, spinning and bait. Day, weekly and season tickets. Junior and senior citizens concessions.

River Calder

Brown Trout.

Permit does not include salmon or sea trout.

River Tromie

Salmon and brown Trout.

Association water includes left bank only, from Tromie Bridge downstream.

River Truim

Salmon and brown trout.

Local season ticket holders only. Special permit must be obtained from Mr Sandy Bennett, Water Bailiff, Kingussie.

Alvie Estate

Salmon, grilse, sea and brown trout.

North bank from downstream end of Eilean Dubh to the East end of forest by Dalraddy Moor, South bank from Kincraig to confluence with the River Feshi. Fly fishing only – no Sunday fishing. Separate rates for salmon and trout fishing, day and weekly. Rod hire and Ghillie’s services available.

Rothiemurchus Estate

Salmon, grilse, sea and brown trout.

River Spey Upper beat 2 miles, Lower beat 1 .5 miles. No Sunday fishing. Upper beat fly only, Lower beat any acceptable method.

Aviemore Waters

Salmon, grilse, sea and brown trout.

River Spey 3 .5 miles single bank. No Sunday fishing. Aviemore waters are only available to visitors staying in Aviemore, Coylumbridge or Rothiemurchus. Day and weekly tickets, adult and junior rates.

Abernethy Waters

Salmon, grilse, sea and brown trout.

No Sunday fishing. Abernethy waters are only available to visitors staying in Boat of Garten, Nethybridge, Dulnain Bridge and Carrbridge. Day and weekly tickets, adult and junior rates.

Broomhill to Grantown New Bridge

Salmon, grilse, sea trout.

Both banks from Broomhill bridge to Grantown road bridge (21 double bank pools + 1 .25 miles of upper Castle Grant private beat on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays).Fly only on certain pools at low water. No float fishing. Permits are only available to visitors staying in Grantown on Spey, Cromdale, Dulnain Bridge and Nethybridge area.Weekly and season tickets include the Upper Castle Grant beat, 1- and 3-day tickets are also available, but exclude the upper Castle Beat.

River Dulnain

Salmon, grilse and sea trout.

From the bridge at Inverlaidnan to the confluence with the Spey, 12 miles over 60 double bank pools. (This water is included with tickets for Broomhill to Grantown New Bridge).Any lure except prawn, shrimp and maggot, no floats. No Sunday fishing. Pools 5-8 are closed from 1st September if the water level is no higher than 6in above summer level. Tickets are for 7 days. Permits are only available to visitors resident to Grantown on Spey, Cromdale, Dulnain Bridge, Carrbridge and Nethybridge area.

River Feshie

Salmon, sea trout and brown trout.

1300 yards on south west bank, upstream from confluence with Spey. Fly and spinning only. No Sunday fishing. Day and weekly rates for Salmon and/or trout. Rod hire and Ghillie service available.

Rothiemurchus Dell Stream

Rainbow trout.

Exclusive fly fishing for rainbow trout in their natural habitat on 0.5 mile of specially created stream, intended for the more experienced angler. No Sunday fishing. Max 4 rods, 4 fish limit.

Loch Fishing

Loch Ericht

Brown Trout.

No vehicular access beyond forestry gate on North shore and railway bridge on South shore. Fishing 8am to dusk, Saturdays pm, all-night fishing allowed, Sundays only after 31st August. Limit 40 rods.

Loch Laggan

Brown Trout and pike.

Fishing from Nor ht (roadside) only. Fishing 8am to dusk, Saturdays pm, all-night also allowed, Sunday only after 31st August. Limit 30 rod.

Loch Gynack

Brown Trout.

Fly only

Loch An T-Seilich

Brown Trout.

Loch Uvie

Mainly pike.

Spey Dam

Spey Trout.

8am to dusk. Fly only – no floats. Limit 10 rods, 6 fish per day. Boat hire available.

Loch Insh

Brown trout, salmon, pike, arctic char.

Permits available May to September. Boat hire, per rod 9am to 1pm, 1pm to 5pm, 5pm to 9pm. A Seagull outboard motor can be hired. Bank fishing is also permitted., Day and half-day tickets available. Rod and reel hire. Ghillie by arrangements. A selection of tackle is available for sale at the Boathouse.

Loch Alvie, Insh, Beag

Brown trout, salmon, arctic char and pike.

Bank fishing and boat hire, Loch Insh. Boat fishing Loch Alvie. Maximum 2 rods per boat, boat supplied with oars and one ron fishing permit. Outboard motor optional extra.

Jock of the bog

Brown trout, stocker loch.

Fly fishing only.

Loch Pityoulish

Pike and trout.

Two rods per boat, no Sunday fishing. Fishing from boat only, full day only.

Loch Morlich

Brown trout and pike.

Open mid March to end of September. Boat hire available mid April onwards from Loch Morlich Water sports Centre. No outboards permitted. Bank fishing permits.

Loch Vaa

Rainbow trout.

Open April, no evening fishing after 6pm. Boat and fly only. Two boats available with two rods per boat.

Avielochan

Brown and rainbow trout.

Resident brown and regular stocking of rainbow. Bank or boat fishing, max 10 rods. 10 acre lochan. Open from April 1st. Mainly fly. Day and evening tickets available and also boat hire.

Loch McLeod

Rainbow and brown trout.

Bank fishing only. Open April 1st, 10am to 6pm.

Loch Mhor

Rainbow and brown trout.

Boat fishing only, from beginning of May. Sessions 8am to 1pm, 1pm to 5pm, 5pm to dusk and 8am to 9:30pm

Lochindorb

Brown trout.

Boat fishing only, from beginning of May. Sessions 8am to 1pm, 1pm to 5pm, 5pm to dusk and 8am to 9:30pm.

Rothiemurchus Fish Farm Stocked Lochs

Rainbow trout.

Full day, half day and evening tickets. No spinning with artificial spoons, plugs etc. Fish caught in excess of bag limits may be purchased from the shop.

Lily Loch

Brown trout only.

Max two rods. Fly fishing from boat only. April to September. No Sunday fishing. Full day, half day dawn to 2:30 or 3pm to dusk.

Craggan Fisheries

Open 7 days a week, 8am to 6pm and 6pm to 10pm on Thursdays June to August. Fly loch and bait pond. Rod hire. Tuition by arrangement. Disabled facilities.

Loch Dallas

Rainbow trout.

Open 1st April. No evening fishing after 6pm. One boat available, two rods, fly only.
